GRAPHITE AND CHARCOAL

Of all the medias, charcoal and pencil drawings are my favorite to create. These renditions are raw and stark. Drawing is the underlying, fundamental start to most 2D and 3D medias; a vision sketched out before fulfilling the artistic quest. But to me, drawing can also be so complex in and of itself that I find that these types of artworks tend to be my audience’s favorite as well. From a single line, an entire contour, a visceral shape, or predetermined boundary can emerge. An entire subject, silhouetted in a faint, opaque value or fully fleshed out in chiaroscuro shading can capture intimate details otherwise lost. This section contains artworks fully developed in pencil, charcoal and Conte.
